How SCM Roofing Started
Scott Marone grew up in Winter Haven, Florida. He started swinging a hammer in high school — not because it was a career plan, but because it was work and he was good at it.
He went on to graduate from the University of Florida's Construction Management program, then spent years in the field. He supervised multiple floors on high-rise buildings. He managed remodels on Fortune 500 company facilities. He bid and built just about every type of construction project you can imagine.
Then he went out on his own.
SCM Roofing started as one licensed contractor doing the work himself. It grew because Scott did good work, charged fair prices, and didn't cut corners. That's not a marketing line — it's how a one-man operation turns into a company that serves eight counties across Florida's Gulf Coast.
Scott holds a Florida State General Contractor's license and a Roofing Contractor's license. He's still involved in the business every day — checking jobs, reviewing estimates, making sure the work going out the door meets the standard he set when it was just him on the roof.
